We are very fortunate & gracious to have been contacted by the granddaughter of Fallschirmjäger veteran, Felix Schönnfeld. felix was a member of the 16 Kompanie and participated in the fighting during the Allied Market Garden Operation. Fortunate to have survived, Felix was taken prisoner by Scotish troops and taken to a P.O.W. camp.
Felix is still alive today and is very excited to be in contact with our unit. His grandaughter will be making a trip to the US next year and will attend the Crete event as an official photgrapher. She will be using period cameras along with digital to capture & record this event
She will continue to update us on Felix's service record, enlistment and life after the war. We look forward hearing back from her soon.

Old Ft MacArthur Days & Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6

OFMD was a great weekend thank's to all our members, guests and friends. We received plenty of positive feedback, the public was very impressed by our display, we picked up some new recruits and we even managed to be recognized by the OFMD event planners with the Espri de Corps best of WWII award! Horrido!
A great weekend in deed and all those who attended should be proud, many more to come.

Casualties of War!

I mean re-enacting......
Sadly after all the hard work our unit put into the kompanie truck, it was destroyed by "JABO" allied fighter bombers at our last Desert battle. I guess this sort of thing happens in war. As if that was not bad enough we also lost a valuable member of our unit, Oberfeldwebel Buil who was transfered to 2Kp FJR2 .
Truth of the matter is our Oberfeldwebel decided to resign his position from our unit and transfer to the 2KP FJR2 unfortunately he took his truck with him. Well like our Kompanie Alte Hasse said, "Now you guys can do what we did, walk"
We all wish Oberfeldwebel Jurgen Buil much success with his new unit.

Fallschirmjäger Regiment 6 at OFMD July 10th - 11th
After many years of not having any German units at OFMD, FJR6 will be the first unit invited back to this awesome summer living history event. This event takes place in beautiful San Pedro on the bluff's of Ft Macarthur over looking the Pacific ocean and Catalina Island. This event is similar to Marching Thru History as we will be allowed to set up our encampment and spend the night with other living history groups.
If you plan on attending this event plase let your unit leaders know. So we can get everyone on the attendance roster. If you are not on the attendeance roster you will not be allowed to attend as a participant. So make sure you get on the roster asap.
We will try and schedule a mock battle with members of the 82nd AB LHA and other allied WWII units.

Fallschirmjäger Brigade Ramcke - in North Africa 1942-1943
Finally a long awaited for book is out, a fantastic book covering the History of the Ramcke Brigade. Features many never before published photos. A must have for any Fallschirmjager fan, renactor, modelor and collector!.
Author Edgar Alcidi has spent many years researching and compiling this book and he has done an excellent job. You will not be dissaponted in the results . Once again Schiffer has publsihed a awesome book on the history of the Fallschirmjäger

Our unit has been recently added and featured in the Battle Tours web site out of Germany. Along with a small article they have featured several photos of our unit including a kompanie photo with our unit truck. Great publicity for our unit.

On Behalf of FJR6 congratulations Glückwünsche to fellow honorary FJR6 member Hans Kertel, who was recently promoted to Oberfeldwebel u. Speiss of the Green Devils!
Hans was one of our original members of the 14th kompanie, but had to leave us when he was transfered do to his job responsibilites.
We are all very proud of his promotion and proud to have had him as one of our original members. He continues to support our unit, with his promotion to Speiss we will definately have a closer bond with our Eastern based bretheren.
